Douglas “Toki” Nakata Sr., 72, of Haina, Honokaa, died April 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Haina, he was a retired boiler controller for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. Visitation 11-11:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 27) at Honokaa Hongwanji Mission. Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by companion, Michelle Rodrigues of Haina; brother, Sidney “Sumo” Nakata of Paauhau; son, Douglas “Toki Boy” Nakata Jr. of Paauhau; stepson, Ryler “Sam” Hall of Waimea; stepdaughter, Ashley Hall of Honokaa; one granddaughter and two stepgrandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. The late Alice Mitsue Sueno was survived by, among others, sister Betsy Honmyo of Wahiawa, Oahu. Her name was submitted incorrectly for an obituary published Saturday.
